At our E-Auction 9 – Lithuanian coinage of Sigismund III Vasa
For the evening, we have prepared a few coins to look at from the Lithuanian coinage department of Sigismund III Vasa. The Mint in Vilnius was thriving, beating stylistically interesting coins, which are nowadays eagerly included by collectors not only from Poland, but also from Lithuania.
Particularly noteworthy is the specimen specimen of the trojak coin, which was minted in 1593 and received the highest rating so far in NGC MS65! It is a very rare variant of the legend with the royal titular ending “LI” on the obverse. In the specialized catalog of Ivanauskas it was given a high degree of rarity – RR. It is a variety with the date next to the coat of arms of the Vasa. It is the first auctioned copy of the Sigismund III Vasa Vilnius trojak in such a high note on the Polish market! An absolutely outstanding coin, for the best collections!
The auction will also include a very nice Vilnius trojak from 1596 (MS61), a punctuation variant not described in Iger’s catalog without a dot at the beginning of the obverse legend, an excellent, indescribable grosz coin from 1625 with a dot on the obverse after the G in the word DG and with dots on the reverse as punctuation. Additionally, this grosz received a high rating in NGC MS63.
At the end, a few additional photos of the remaining selected coins from this section, while the entire offer can be found on the Onebid platform. We invite you to register and actively participate in auctions!
