At our E-Auction 4 – coinage of medieval Europe

Published by RDA on

The world of medieval European coinage is probably one of the most iconographically interesting periods in numismatics.

The multiplicity of centers across the continent, different intentions and traditions resulted
in a number of diverse, sometimes very unusual ideas.

As we have already shown, our auction includes a collection of Austrian pfennigs, mostly
one-sided. If these coins were minted in Poland, we would call them bracteats (and some of them probably half-bracteats).

Therefore, we invite you to the world of Austrian bracteats on the example of typologically different items from the collection mentioned!

Among them, an interesting depiction of a harpy eagle, a winged altar, a bishop, an eagle
or a unicorn … many of them also bear a shield as one of the iconographic elements

All the coins below will go to our auction on rda.onebid.pl/pl/index
